Reforestation Activity

<Objective of the Program>

Along with local communities, we coordinate the ‘’ Mori wa Umi no Koibito Forestation Festival’’ since 1989, and the thinning of trees and bushes to maintain Satoyama*.

Due to the depopulation and to the resultant change in the structure of local industry and lifestyle, the good old Satoyama is changing its figure. By conserving Satoyama’s rich ecosystem, we aim to maintain both natural – and marine environment, whose lives are closely linked through rivers.

<Activities>
-Organize a “Mori wa Umi no Koibito Forestation Festival in every June
-Develop a Satoyama

Community Development

<Objective of the Program>

“Community development’’ is a project that our organization commenced after the Great East Japan Earthquake. This incident brought about drastic changes in both the nature and the communities in Tohoku region. An example of such changes is a former residential area, which turned into a massive wetland after the Tsumani and is now a home for a number of rare species. We respect such natural environment born out of the quake, and aim to build a safe and nature-oriented community, without relying on man-made seawalls..

<Activities>
-Organize study workshop with experts
-Publicize our activities over the website
